Looking for local parenting classes or support groups? Parents "R" Talking offers a variety of workshops each month at 77 Jericho Tpke. in Mineola, 917-862-7644. Advance registration is required.

“We try to prepare parents for parenthood. A lot of parents don’t have close relatives around anymore. They’re looking for this information, how to get their children on a schedule, how to get them sleeping through the night, how to establish a healthy, balanced lifestyle,” says Rebecca Kammerer, founder of Parents "R" Talking.

This Saturday, two workshops are scheduled. “Become a Better Parent” emotion coaching workshop is designed to teach parents of children ages newborn to 6 about how to raise empathetic children. From 2 to 4 p.m. $50 per person; $95 per couple. The “Twin Mom Talk” support groups for moms of multiples meets 4 to 5:30 p.m. $10 per parent. Adults only preferred; massage therapist will give each mom a free 10-minute massage.
