NYC's Green Festival events for kids
Parents looking for a fun, family-friendly event this weekend can head down to Pier 94 in Manhattan for the Green Festival, one of the largest green events in the United States.
Last year's festival drew in more than 20,000 New Yorkers who wanted to learn new ways to live healthier and greener lives. Businesses will be offering free yoga classes, an eco-fashion show, vegan cooking demos, workshops and more.
Kids can also join in on the fun. On Saturday, families can enjoy eco-inspired arts and crafts, puppet shows and storytime. On Sunday, there will be a reading of the children's book "Pammy the Pea," by Pamela Lessero as well as live performances and activities by the New York Chinese Cultural Center. Kids can also turn T-shirts into functional tote bags on Sunday at an upcycling workshop from Green Eileen. There will also be eco-friendly children's clothing, toys and other vendors available all weekend.
The Green Festival will take place on Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. It costs $10 but if you bring an item of fresh produce you'll receive a 50 percent discount. For more information, visit greenfestivals.org.
