New study finds kids are less fit than their parents
Today's kids are less physically fit than their parents were when they were young, a new worldwide study has found.
The effort, led by researchers at the University of South Australia and reported by the Associated Press, examined 50 different studies and found that on average, it takes children 90 seconds longer to run a mile than it did for children three decades ago.
In a world where video games are the playdate activity of choice and the McDonald's drive-through counts as dinner, these results are hardly surprising.
Experts blame these factors, and also list fewer PE classes and neighborhoods that are unsafe for outdoor play as major contributors to the problem.
