New animated feature on NickMom.com
NickMom has launched a new comedy feature called “Storytime for Moms” that spoofs popular children’s books, with the first one called “Shaved Legs” as a play on Dr. Seuss’s “Green Eggs and Ham.”
“Do you like Shaved Legs and Spanx? Would you like them in the carpool lane? Could you like them with book club wine?” asks the two-minute cartoon video, which is online at Nickmom.com. It will also begin playing during the 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. time slot daily, when kids are asleep and Nick Jr. instead airs programming aimed at mothers, says Bronwen O'Keefe, senior vice president of NickMom.
Manhattan Mom Lyss Stern, co-author of the book “If You Give a Mom A Martini…100 Ways to Find 10 Blissful Minutes for Yourself” (Clarkson Potter, $16.95) and head of Divalysscious Moms, which launches products and plans events for mothers, co-wrote “Shaved Legs.” She plans to launch follow-up videos based on other children’s favorites. “Moms need to laugh,” said Stern, 38, mom of two boys, Jackson, 9 and Oliver, 5.
"We just really loved this idea," O'Keefe says. "As a mom you find yourself reading the same book over and over and over again to your kids. I think it's fun to see the re-imagining of it."
