What does it mean to be born in 2013?
Starting tomorrow, NBC’s "Today" show will spend a week reporting on new technologies, trends and realities that parents face. Topics will include fertility frustrations, mom/dad balance and sleep deprivation. A number of correspondents, including Jenna Bush Hager, will discuss their personal parenting experiences.
On Monday, correspondents will report from four hospitals nationwide, including New York-Presbyterian/Columbia. The show will examine the high costs of pregnancy and birth in the United States and how it compares to other countries.
On Tuesday, the show will examine fertility technology and profile a couple attempting IVF.
On Wednesday, "Today" follows a couple through their first day and night at home with their newborn, focusing on the science of sleep deprivation. Also, Matt Lauer, Al Roker and other dads will offer a panel discussion on the role of dads today.
Thursday brings an investigation of the taboos surrounding breastfeeding. And on Friday, the show follows new moms as they re-enter the workforce after maternity leave.
