Need some mother-daughter bonding time? Take a mother-daughter stand-up paddleboarding class from 4 to 5 p.m. Monday or 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Kostal Paddle at Manorhaven Beach, 158 Manorhaven Blvd., Port Washington.

“We will kick off the class with ice breakers and then go into the water for some fun,” says Dawn Berkowitz-Ader of Port Washington, founder and president of GAALS, or Girls Athletics and Life Skills, which is sponsoring the class. “Girls will share a paddleboard with their moms and learn the skills to this core body workout that uses nearly every muscle. Afterward, we will all come back together for some team-building activities --- all focused on breaking out of your comfort zone and challenging yourself, thereby building confidence.”

The event is appropriate for girls ages kindergarten through middle school. GAALS, which launched in January, gives workshops and classes to empower girls through physical activity. During this first fall season, the organization is offering 14 courses at five locations in Nassau County.
