Watching movies on the beach this summer? You bet! The Civic Associations in Long Beach recently announced the 2014 CityMD Saturday Nights on the Beach, featuring kid-friendly movie nights and concerts.

The first concert kicks off this Saturday at 6:30 p.m. on New York Avenue. The Grammy-nominated band, The Pop Ups, will be performing with choreographed dance numbers, puppets, dancing bugs, costume parties, music and more.

Some of the movies and dates are still pending, but here is a preliminary list to help you make plans this summer:

"Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory," June 28 at Virginia Beach, 8:30 p.m.

"Back to the Future," July 5 at Lafayette Boulevard, 8:30 p.m.

"The Wizard of Oz," July 12 at Neptune Boulevard, 8:30 p.m.

"Jaws" (for the older kids), July 19 at Lafayette Boulevard, 8:15 p.m.

Also just announced: "Frozen" will be the movie on September 13 at Neptune Boulevard.

Be sure to bring blankets and chairs; free popcorn will be available for all attendees as well as other goodies from various sponsors.
