Bach to Rock music school opens in Port Washington
Back to Rock (B2R) in Port Washington boasts a fun, new way for kids to play instruments and learn music. The music school opened it's doors in January and is the Maryland-based company's first franchised location.
B2R's philosophy is based on the knowledge that children learn best when playing music together. Instructors combine individual lessons with band instruction that includes weekly jam sessions, a battle of the bands and eventually, a recording session in the B2R studio. B2R also hosts scheduled public concerts to help musical novices become seasoned performers.
Classes are geared toward musicians of all ages, from toddlers to adults. Individual lessons are recommended for kids ages seven and up and include piano/keyboard, guitar, bass, drums, voice, woodwinds, brass and more. Semiprivate instruction features Rock Band, Glee Club (inspired by the television show), Kids 'N Keys (piano for ages 5-6) and early childhood programs to help little ones become familiar with music.
B2R also throws rock band, karaoke and other music-themed birthday parties. Kids can record songs, play instruments and even bring a CD home with their recordings. Prices start around $400.
Classes are based on 30- or 60-minute sessions starting at $28 and up. For more information, visit b2rmusic.com/portwashington or call 516-441-5526.
