Baby gets first hearing aids, hears parents' voices for first time

Hearing his parents’ voices for the first time led to an amazing moment for a 7-week-old baby.

As he’s fitted with hearing aids for the first time, baby Lachlan’s face says it all. Captured in a YouTube video, Lachlan squeals from the initial discomfort and shock — but then he hears his parents’ voices. His eyes widen, and a smile begins to grow across his tiny face.

“His reaction when they were turned on was truly amazing,” his dad, Toby Lever, wrote on YouTube. “We cried from happiness.”

Lachlan was diagnosed with moderate to severe hearing loss early in life, Lever wrote. Now 2 years old, he’s doing remarkably well, according to dad.

The video, uploaded on Aug. 31, has since racked up over 1.6 million views.
