Alicia Keys releases new app for kids
Grammy Award-winning artist Alicia Keys recently launched a new interactive app for kids. "Mama Mae: Mookey by Alicia Keys" is the latest installment in the "Journals of Mama Mae & LeeLee" children's story franchise.
The singer-songwriter and mother of son Egypt (with hip-hop artist husband Swizz Beatz) teamed up with Jessica Walton and Bento Box Interactive to develop a series of storytelling apps for kids ages 4 and up. The apps feature stories, journaling, games and original music about important values scored by Keys instilling important values.
"Mookey" follows a grandmother, voiced by Della Reese, as she guides her granddaughter LeeLee through illustrated stories. The themes emphasize the special bond between grandparents and their loved ones while addressing such topics as self-acceptance, courage, forgiveness and bullying. Children will be introduced to Bali, a young boy from India with his not-so-imaginary friend, Mookey, and his cousin, Ankita. The app also features a new song by Keys and performed by Arealyah Paul, titled "I Wanna Dream."
You can find "Mookey" on the Apple App Store as free-to-play download for iOS devices. The full version is $3.99.
