Tire Rack Street Survival school is bringing its advanced teen drivers education course to Nassau Coliseum from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday.

This nonprofit teen driving school is held at local venues around the country and organized by the BMW Car Club of America Foundation in conjunction with the Sports Car Club of America, Porsche Club of America and other groups. The goals are to teach students the basics of car control, to enhance their enjoyment of driving and to improve their competence as drivers.

Here's how it works: The experienced driving coach will provide real-time feedback as students maneuver their vehicles through a variety of real-road situations, including advanced acceleration, turning, emergency breaking and more.

Participants must have a permit and be accompanied by a parent or have a license. Be sure to bring the car you typically drive. Classroom session is followed by hands-on everyday driving hazards on a controlled course with an instructor in the car.

The course is $75 and you must preregister; lunch is included. For more information, call 864-438-2060 or visit streetsurvival.org.
