Have you ever made a scented candle? If you would like to give it a try, head to Paint-A-Piece in Commack. At Paint-A-Piece, you can paint pottery, do glass fusion or make a candle.

When we visited Paint-a-Piece, we made candles. We wanted to do something that we could take home in a day. To make the candle, we first picked out our wax colors. Then, we chose which type of candle; glass or pillar (when the candle comes right out of the mold). Next, we broke up small pieces of the wax and carefully dropped them into our molds, filling them to the top. Now for the best part -- picking out the scents. After smelling all the scents (such as cola, bubble gum, and even bacon), we finally chose the ones we liked best. Stephanie Giardina, the owner, poured the scented hot wax into our molds. You could put on sparkles or decorations. Then, she put them in the fridge to cool down. When she took them out, they were ready to take home.

Paint-A-Piece was a fantastic experience. We can't wait to go back! It's at 6126 Jericho Tpke., Commack. Call 631-486-6969. Online: paintapiecepottery.com. It's a great place to go for a party or even if you want to make a special gift for someone.
