We met singing star Austin Mahone at Planet Hollywood in Manhattan recently. Make sure you watch our video, because we get to sing with Austin!

How did your music career begin?

It began when I started posting videos on YouTube about two years ago with my best friend, Alex.

When did you realize your interest in music?

Once I started to get a lot of positive feedback on my videos and I started to travel, I just fell in love with performing.

Did you ever play an instrument?

I actually play four. I play guitar, piano, ukulele and drums.

How old were you when you had your first kiss?

13

How does your family encourage your singing?

They just help me stay humble and travel with me everywhere and, yeah, they're awesome.

What do you like to do with your spare time?

I like to play basketball.

How many hours do you sing a day?

All day long.

What is your favorite song written by you?

Probably my new single, "What About Love."

What is your favorite subject?

In school? I'd say my worst subject is math. I'm terrible in math. Probably, like, reading or something.

Who is your favorite male artist?

Maybe Justin Timberlake.

Where do you get your inspiration?

I get my inspiration from everyday life, things that happened to me in the past or things that I would want to happen.

Why is music important to you?

Music is important to me because . . . I can be creative and just be myself and get to travel everywhere and see new places. So it's really cool.

Do you like to cook?

I love to cook. I cook macaroni.

Where is your favorite place to eat?

Probably Olive Garden.

What advice can you give new musicians?

I would say just keep following your dreams no matter what people tell you. Always keep working hard.

Do you like being a musician?

I love it. Like I said before, it is my passion that I breathe and eat music. So it's everything.

Is it easy to write a song?

It can be. Sometimes it could be easy writing your feelings down, other times it can be a little hard, but it's all about being creative.

If you had a duet with somebody, who would it be?

Good question.Maybe Justin Timberlake.

How many hats do you have?

Oh man, hundreds. Probably over 300. That's a lot.

Do you plan on doing anything else besides singing?

Not right now. My focus right now is just music.

Do you like being recognized in public?

Yeah, it's pretty cool. Getting to see my fans and just meet new people.

What is your favorite vacation?

I just got back from Japan and that was pretty cool. That was my first time there.

Do you like sports?

I love sports. Basketball is my favorite sport. I also played football in high school.

Are you working on any new songs?

I'm working on my album right now which is going to come out around the fall.

Can you sing a song for us now?

Sure.
