Home Depot puts the tools in kids's hands at workshop

Do you get bored on hot summer days? If you do, your nearest Home Depot has the perfect thing for you. They have free kids workshops and you will receive a workshop kit to do. Best of all, you get to keep it.

Every Home Depot has employees ready to help you. At the South Setauket Home Depot near Target, employees Harry and Jackie have worked there for more than 10 years. They started working for the kids workshop a few years ago and they said the fun part is watching the kids do projects by themselves.

They say a special part of this event is that the kids learn something even while having fun. It also teaches them what tools they need to complete most crafts.

This workshop is open on the first Saturday of each month from 9 a.m. to noon. The program teaches kids, ages 5 to 12, some do-it-yourself tool safety and gives them a sense of pride when the project is completed. Kids learn all about using tools while having fun. After you finish your project, you will get a kid-size apron, a commemorative pin and a certificate of achievement, all to keep!

Check with your local Home Depot. Then sign up. We bet you will love it!
