Donate your hair to help fight cancer
Have you ever thought about donating your hair? When you donate your hair, it goes to a child who has lost his or her hair due to cancer. The organization will make it into a wig, so that person can have hair. Kids younger than 18 can get wigs made from real human hair, for free.
When you donate, you make an appointment at whichever hair salon you normally go to, except you tell them that you'd like to donate your hair. You have to have at least 10 inches to donate it to Locks of Love. You must arrive at the salon with clean, dry hair.
When you get to the salon, they will measure your hair to the length you'd like to donate and then they'll put that length into a ponytail or braid. Then the hairdresser will snip the braid or ponytail off and give the hair to your parents. Finally, the hairdresser will style your new hair length the way you want.
Once you've had your hair cut, go to locksoflove.org. Next, print out the hair donation form and fill it out. Then you put your hair in a Ziploc bag and finally put the hair and form into a large mailing envelope and send it to: Locks of Love, 234 Southern Blvd., West Palm Beach, FL 33405-2701.
I felt so good that somebody was going to have real hair because of me. My hair now falls right below my ears. I donated exactly 10 inches.
