Some call it the "Unhampton" -- for while Montauk is the tip of the South Fork, it is in many ways part of the Hamptons community -- and then again, in many ways it isn't. The personality is much more relaxed, the dress so much more casual -- however, it has always had a hot summer scene of its own, and thanks to the hundreds of summer funseekers that have already turned the stretch from the Shinnecock Canal to Amagansett into a premiere place for warm-weather fun, these days the town most famous for its lighthouse is also quickly becoming a must for fun times and cocktails. Here are a few suggestions on where to take it all in (and make sure you have that GPS handy, for Montauk roads tend to bamboozle non-residents).
