This year's I-CON is no more.

Organizers say the science-fiction / science-fact convention, an annual spring affair on Long Island for decades, has been postponed indefinitely because of a confluence of problems -- financial issues, staffing and the lack of a venue for the three-day event. I-CON 32 had been planned for this weekend.

Organizers said they hope to host the convention, which also includes anime and comic book characters, later this year or next, according to a webcast posted on the convention website, iconsf.org.

I-CON Science Fiction Inc. president Vince Collura said on the webcast that the group is having difficulty securing a venue in the wake of building renovations at Stony Brook University, which has hosted the convention most years.

I-CON is a nonprofit run by volunteers. Emails and calls to various I-CON board members seeking comment were not returned.
