Life on Long Island
Two Tuesday trivia tournaments to consider
There’s no shortage of trivia contests to be found around the Island’s nightlife scene, and while these battles of wits are often fun, the thought of getting severely trumped by a competing master of minutiae can be enough to keep some out of the scrum. However, there are two Tuesday trivia events going down this week that revolve around questions that involve recent and popular data, so if you’d like to take a try here’s where to head:
“2012 Trivia” at Sip This
WHERE/ INFO 64 Rockaway Ave., Valley Stream, 516-341-0491, sipthisny.com
BE BRUSHED UP ON recent events, as the contest being thrown by this hip coffeehouse is keeping things based on culture, cinema, entertainment news, politics and other facts that occurred strictly in 2012. It kicks off at 8 p.m., and allows up to four players per team. To get in on the game, head down, reach out (at facebook.com/SipThis) or call as soon as possible to sign up.
“Pizza and Trivia” at The Cortland
WHERE/ INFO 27 W. Main St., Bay Shore 631-206-2220, thecortland.com
BE BRUSHED UP ON The AMC cable channel’s hit show “The Walking Dead,” as this superhot spot (named “The Coolest Bar on LI” in 2012 by Newsday) is basing this knowledge scrimmage on television’s zombie apocalypse show (where the real monster is the ratings). Everything starts at 8 p.m., with three rounds of trivia to be powered by free pizza from nearby Salvatore's The Pie (120 E. Main St., Bay Shore, 631-206-1060). Call ahead, stop in or check out The Cortland online (at facebook.com/thecortland) for more details and information on sign-ups.
