National Margarita Day: 2 LI venues celebrating today's occasion
Yes indeed, it’s a real thing.
Each year, Feb. 22 is officially “National Margarita Day” -- and truth be told, it’s a likely assumption that fans of the legendary, tequila-fueled cocktail don't need a commemorative date to celebrate its existence – and perhaps that’s why there aren't a lot of LI venues overtly rejoicing with bargains on blue agave beverages.
However, if you are seeking an opportunity to pay a personal homage to the margarita today, there are a couple of solid options worthy of consideration:
WHERE El Mariachi: 213 Sunrise Hwy., Rockville Centre, 516-536-6661
THE DEAL Opening at noon, this Mexican restaurant will make the day a full doing. It’s scheduled to sell $5 margaritas during all hours until closing time, and feature live music from Bobby Calypso and Freddie Keys, two members of the soca-meets-classic dance act Copycat (from 7 p.m.-11 p.m.). Guests may possibly score sombreros and T-shirts.
WHERE Post Office Cafe: 130 W. Main St., Babylon, 631-669-9224
THE DEAL To mark the occasion, this popular pub and grill will be pouring such special concoctions as the “Heatherita” (blanco tequila, triple sec, lime, Chambord liqueur), the “Marina ‘Rita” (blanco tequila, triple sec, lemon juice, red grapefruit, Blue Curacao liqueur) and a “Skinny ‘Rita” (mango tequila, lime juice, splash of orange juice, Citronage liqueur) for $5 each, from open (noon) until close.
