Life on Long Island
YouTube star Keenan Cahill at Nutty Farmingdale
If you're not familiar with Keenan Cahill, perhaps you are working too hard.
The reasoning behind that inference is reference to what so many of us are accused of doing at work instead of working -- surfing the web and checking out YouTube.
It’s on that online hub of endless, various videos that the aforementioned Cahill has made himself an Internet sensation. An 18-year old student from Illinois, the young man started uploading clips of himself lip-synching pop hits -- in his bedroom -- to the YouTube platform. Infusing every piece with a shy, sly sort of charm, his videos have drawn adulation from around the world – and the response to his efforts has been tremendous.
Cahill’s videos have received over 400 million hits (his version of pop singer Katy Perry’s “Teenage Dream” has exceeded over 55,000,000 alone), leading some of the artists whose music he has mouthed to in turn do videos with him – including such stars as Justin Beiber, 50 Cent and David Guetta (as well as Perry, who happily lip-synched to her “Dream” track with Cahill in their video).
Needless to say, Keenan Cahill has made quite a success of his boudoir-based presentations, but on Monday, June 3, fans of his efforts need not browse YouTube to catch an enactment as he'll be working live at the Nutty Irishman in Farmingdale.
Moving his act from behind his webcam to the ‘Nutty stage, Keenan is slated to sign autographs, meet the crowd and perform a set, which may include some of the original music he’s been releasing since last year.
Doors open at 9 p.m., with DJ Milli and band The Wild Ones also scheduled for the night. Expect a yet-to-be-announced cover charge; for more information check out Nutty Farmingdale at thenuttyirishman.com or facebook.com/NuttyIrishmanFarmingdale.
