Until there are as many spots in Nassau County that feature “country music nights” as there are currently in Suffolk County, the rise of these parties on LI can be considered a “growing trend.”

However, it does seem that the transition from “trend” to “the norm” may be nearing as 2013 starts to wind down.

There are several spots east of Route 110 that are throwing weekly bashes these days centered around country music, a sound that — at one time — was hardly considered as an option to inspire Long Islanders to come out for nighttime fun. But, by the end of 2012, the allure of line-dancing and other facets of the honky-tonk lifestyle had become regularly used by bars, clubs and restaurants as a successful draw in Suffolk County.

Nassau County has been slower to embrace the idea of donning cowboy hats and heading out to boot-scoot at a pub. Perhaps it’s the region’s closer proximity to New York City — a place where country parties are rare — but Nassau has exhibited much less in the way of country music-centered events than Suffolk … until recently.

Since 2013 began, WhoVille Bar in Bethpage (339 Broadway, 516-931-9296) has been featuring a Wednesday night hoedown, and during the summer Tropix on the Mile in Freeport (395 Woodcleft Ave. 516-623-8767) made a splash with a Tuesday evening affair (which has since moved to Thursday nights for the duration of September) -- and now, another venue has recently joined the Nassau County country movement.

Since August, Jetty Bar & Grill in Long Beach has been hosting a weekly “Wild West Wednesdays,” featuring country music (by DJ Backwood Stix) and drink specials — with the main event a mechanical bull.

There’s no cover, with everything set to get rolling by 9 p.m. For more information, check out Jetty online at jettylb.com and facebook.com/JettyBarAndGrill.
