Life on Long Island
Voss Foundation benefit at Georgica
Normally, the more prominent Hamptons fundraisers happen on Saturdays during the summer, but with the Fourth of July landing on a Friday this year, Georgica in Wainscott will be making the unusual move of throwing a buzzworthy gala midweek instead.
While weekends are usually favorable for those who attend the upscale charitable events that fill the East End’s social calendar in June, July and August -- allowing for partying on Saturdays and relaxing on Sundays -- as it turns out, many people will likely be off from work on Friday, July 4, for the holiday, which should give Georgica’s annual “Clean Water Benefit” a chance to be especially successful, despite taking place on Thursday, July 3.
Well-known as a perennial stop to spot famous faces, Georgica will once again live up to that reputation as the evening’s hosts will be model Vita Sidorkina and co-star of the CBS show “Blue Bloods” Sami Gayle. It kicks off at 8 p.m. with a cocktail reception, to be followed by a 9 p.m. three-course dinner and a live performance from country music duo American Young.
Tickets are available in advance for $100 per person (which will also include a gift bag and access to the after-party featuring celebrity DJ Lee Kalt), with proceeds benefiting the Voss Foundation, a 501(c)(3) public charity working to provide clean water and hygienic conditions for communities in sub-Saharan Africa.
