Making trips into Manhattan and Brooklyn to enjoy the city’s cutting edge nightlife has always been a regular move by Long Islanders – as while there’s plenty to do in Nassau and Suffolk, NYC remains one of the world’s main destinations for both fabulous and offbeat parties. However, once the summer rolls around, a healthy portion of the New York City DJs, hosts, performers, staffers and other club scene stars will also throw special gatherings in the Hamptons – making taking in these unique affairs as easy as driving east on Route 27.

Here are two choice (and free) events worthy of investigation:

Dream Session: Dancehall Edition

WHEN Friday, July 5 at 6 p.m.

THE DEAL Taking place in the sand, along the Gurney’s Inn beachfront, the legendary dancehall star Sister Nancy (responsible for the classic track “Bam Bam”) will perform live, and will be supported by a number of DJs (including the iconic club/radio selector Stretch Armstrong).
