When summer comes to the Island, most nightlife-minded people think of weekend visitations to the Hamptons, Fire Island and other waterside locations -- but as it turns out, what might possibly be the year’s ultimate night of barhopping, cocktail sipping, clubbing and dancing is set for a weekday -- and all in one location (in landlocked Woodbury) no less, as the annual Long Island Hospitality Ball (LIHB) returns to the Crest Hollow Country Club (8325 Jericho Tpke., 516-692-8000) on Monday, June 3.

It’s a night where the people that bring LI its social scene – ranging from the doormen and coat checkers to barbacks and mixologists, managers, owners, DJs, bands and others – all gather to celebrate their industry. But this event is not simply an “evening out” for the nightlife world’s staffers; instead it’s an affair that both pays homage to individuals that have made a difference in the arena of hospitality – as well as a fundraiser set to help in the fight against cancer.

This year, the LIHB guests of honor are E. Lloyd Sobel (for his work in the wine and spirits industry), Reynold Leone (owner of East Meadow clubs Zachary’s and Aura) and both Anthony and Victor Scotto (known professionally as the “Scotto Brothers”), whose many endeavors have helped shape the Long Island hospitality scene over the past few decades (the Scottos currently own Blackstone Steakhouse in Melville, RARE650 in Syosset, Insignia in Smithtown, The Inn at Fox Hollow in Woodbury and Chateau Briand in Carle Place).

There will also be lots for attendees to eat and sip, as several area restaurants, food vendors and beverage companies will be offering a showcase of signature edibles, comestibles and libations. In addition, a roster of entertainers will be on hand to keep the crowd dancing, which this year includes celebrity DJ Theo Pisani and Big Shot, the heavily-followed Billy Joel cover band. Tickets are available at longislandhospitalityball.org for $100, or $150 at the door (which includes parking plus unlimited food and drink), with all monetary proceeds benefiting the American Cancer Society. Doors open at 7 p.m.
