Life on Long Island
The last 'Body English' of 2013
Of all the seasons, the departure of summer is always the toughest for the lovers of nightlife.
By the end of September, almost all the hot Hamptons hangouts, Fire Island clubs and other waterside venues that count on warm nights to draw party-minded people will be shut until at least early spring next year -- but among the seasonal closures, there is also the sign-off for Body English Tuesdays, one of the few landlocked happenings that is also a summer-only occurrence.
In case you've never made your way to a Body English bash, it’s a series of parties that take place on Tuesdays (thus its full name), which is generally a night otherwise devoid of special events or big crowds. Held at the Chateau Briand in Carle Place, the weekly soiree is a dressy, often-busy affair that provides an indoor dance floor and an outdoor courtyard offering daybeds, palm trees, bottle service and cocktails – all wrapped by the Briand’s high walls, effectively blocking out the Old Country Road shopping sprawl and creating a Miami-inspired atmosphere. Its fifth season opened back on June 3 – but if you were hoping to check this all out before it wraps for 2013, the last go-round goes down on Tuesday, Aug. 27 -- so everyone has one more shot to experience it before the likely relaunch in June of 2014.
This last blowout will be a “Hawaiian luau,” which is scheduled to include Polynesian dancers and a complimentary pig roast buffet from 8 p.m.-9 p.m. Male guests must be at least 25 years of age and wear collared shirts; for more information visit bodyenglishtuesdays.com or facebook.com/bodyenglishtuesdays online.
