Life on Long Island
The Farmingdale Santa Crawl
Looking for an excuse to dress like Santa Claus and spend an afternoon marching around an area village between pubs? This is it.
On Saturday, Dec. 14, Farmingdale will be the site of a Santa Crawl, which -- for those yet to attempt such a festive feat -- requires all involved to don either holiday attire (such as dressing like a reindeer or wearing a very ugly Christmas sweater) or to appear as Kriss Kringle himself. Once seasonably suited up, crawlers will wander the town’s Main Street and visit all the day’s participating pubs and other venues (the specific stops are yet to be announced), where drink specials will be made available.
It all kicks off at 3 p.m. and starts at the Library Cafe (274 Main St., 516-752-7678). Registration is $10 a taker, with all sign-up proceeds benefiting Toys For Tots of Nassau County (garden-city-ny.toysfortots.org), a nonprofit organization affiliated with the U. S. Marine Corps Reserve that collects new, unwrapped toys for donation to local children in need.
