Life on Long Island
The 'Eat. Drink. Think Pink.' donation presentation
Although it's now November, Monsoon Asian Kitchen and Lounge in Babylon Village isn't through with its October efforts just yet.
Every year, October serves as National Breast Cancer Awareness Month -- and to help battle the disease, the Bohlsen Restaurant Group (which includes Monsoon, as well as Tellers in Islip, H2O in Smithtown and Prime in Huntington, among others) hosted an “Eat. Drink. Think Pink.” campaign during the days between the end of September and Halloween. Adding pink-hued ingredients to some of its menus and beverage selections, the Bohlsen’s spots raised funds for specific Breast Cancer Coalition community resource organizations (by contributing a portion of the pink item sales), and on Thursday, Nov. 14, Monsoon will serve as the location of the donation check presentation ceremony.
The event starts at 7 p.m., with the charities receiving donations collected. Included are the Breast Cancer Coalitions of Babylon (babylonbreastcancer.org), Huntington (hbcac.org), Islip (islipbreastcancer.com) and West Islip (wibcc.org). Half-priced cocktails will be available at the bar plus complimentary hors d’oeuvres and wine until 8 p.m. A $35 price fixe dinner will be served, with the main entertainment a fashion show by Lola’s Lookbook (lolaslookbook.com), a brand that specializes in trendy-yet-affordable clothing and accessories.
