Life on Long Island
The Box is back at Sienna
Though East Hampton’s Sienna Restaurant & Ultralounge is a chef-driven seasonal restaurant, it also features several unique nightlife events -- and this weekend, it will see the return of one of its especially unforgettable evening socials.
Already the location of such semiregular spirited happenings as “The Animal Party” (where guests are encouraged to dress as jungle creatures and bat around inflatable representations of wildlife) and the Day & Night brunch bash (lots of champagne and people dancing on the furniture), Sienna will additionally play host to a special edition of The Box on Friday, Aug. 1.
Not a simple experience to explain, The Box is a cabaret-style festivity usually found running in Manhattan (at 189 Chrystie St.). Somewhere between vaudevillian and sideshow in content, the lineup is never shared in advance -- but based on past performances, expect vigorous dancing, singing and acrobatics, among other possibilities (for a video example, visit The Box online at theboxnyc.com).
Taking place twice last year at Sienna, there has only been one 2014 Hamptons appearance announced (as of this writing). The Black Light Clam Bake is starting at 11 p.m. and although the meaning of the name remains unexplained, a dress code of “beach” has been requested. For more information on this attire ask, or to reserve a space email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 631-604-6062. (Tables start at $250 per person for groups of eight.)
