The 2014 Reconstructed Bra Fashion Show and Auction
Although the East End gala benefit season doesn't truly launch until Memorial Day Weekend, there’s a fun-looking fundraiser taking place in Southampton on Thursday, May 15 designed to raise financial support for a cause that affects women and families locally, nationally and globally.
Starting at 7 p.m., the Southampton Social Club (256 Elm St., Southampton, 631-287-1400) will be hosting the “Reconstructed Bra Fashion Show and Auction,” a charitable gathering focused on the fight against breast cancer. A “reconstructed” bra (in this case) refers to brassieres that have been transformed by local artists into ornate showpieces, with the intended goal of demonstrating solidarity with breast cancer patients who have undergone breast reconstructive surgery — and at this event, the modified bras will be modeled for auction.
A paid entry fee includes appetizers and an open bar, with tickets available in advance for $50 or $90 — the latter price a VIP option that adds such amenities as prime seating during the auction portion of the evening, a goodie bag, waitress service and a private bar. (Any remaining general admission tickets will be on sale at the door for $60.)
This affair is to benefit Team Heaven Can Wait — a group working to garner sponsorship funds as part of the June 7 LI2DAY Walk (li2daywalk.com) — and it will donate all raised proceeds to the Lucia's Angels foundation (luciasangels.org), The Coalition for Women's Cancers at Southampton Hospital (cwcshh.org) and the Ellen Hermanson Breast Center (southamptonhospital.org).
Tickets can be purchased at Southampton Social Club, Catena's Market (143 Main St., Southampton, 631-283-3456) and at Southampton Hospital (240 Meeting House Lane, 631-726-8400). For more information, call 631-726-8715 or email email@example.com.
