Life on Long Island
The 17th annual 'Snowball' in Westhampton Beach
It’s common knowledge that fabulous parties take place throughout the summer in the Hamptons — as it is that the offseason is generally a quieter time.
Not that there isn’t plenty to do on the East End between Labor Day and Memorial Day, but while bustling bashes and benefits are the norm when it’s warm, the winter scene is one of occasional, mostly smaller-scaled soirees.
Then again, there is the “Snowball,” an annual gala organized by the Westhampton Alliance of Merchants (WHAM). Returning for a 17th year on Jan. 26, this party is dual purpose; designed to both help Hamptonites get out and about while simultaneously raising funds for charity (this year’s Snowball partially benefits East End Hospice, a state-certified hospice that serves Eastern Suffolk County) and local business improvements.
The entertainment will include live music, a DJ, dancing and a cash bar, along with raffles and prizes. Tickets are $50, and are available in advance at a select few Westhampton Beach businesses; for a list of participating ticket outlets and any other information call 631-288-4722, check online at whamwhb.org or send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org. The location is the Beach Bath & Tennis Hotel and Marina (231 Dune Rd., Westhampton Beach), with a start time of 8 p.m. Dress code is semiformal; black-tie optional.
