Life on Long Island
Sienna welcomes The Box
It’s no secret that there are unusual, offbeat happenings that are unique to Manhattan – and when you are a devout night scene explorer based here on LI, it almost always takes a journey into NYC to experience endeavors of that ilk.
However, come the summer, when much of the city’s out-and-about crowd makes the Hamptons its warm-weather destination, Long Island receives “pop-up” (as in a temporary or seasonal satellite location) versions of several New York City shops, restaurants and nightclubs – as well as some of its signature soirees.
One of 2013’s notable Hamptons highlights has so far been Sienna Restaurant & Ultralounge in East Hampton -– brought about by the minds behind NYC's T-Bar Steak & Lounge -- and is an eatery that also offers nightlife via the Pink Elephant party brand, and furthermore shares its building with SL East, a neighboring nightclub that is also an extension of a Manhattan Meatpacking District property (“SL”). And Aug. 2, one of the city’s especially exclusive bashes will be throwing a one-night fete of its own at Sienna – sort of like a pop-up within a pop-up.
Normally found downtown (in Manhattan, at 189 Chrystie St.) there is a dinner club known as The Box, which specializes in wild, vaudevillian cabaret – and starting at 11 p.m., it will bring its late-night efforts to Sienna in what can be expected to be a vibrant evening of adults-only performances.
It’s hard to guess what The Box will exactly be putting together, but its usual efforts range from acrobatics and singing to burlesque and freak show acts. There is one constant though: reservations are absolutely necessary. To gain access, email firstname.lastname@example.org (and for more information, check out theboxnyc.com).
