In a festive nod to both its own efforts and the dedication of those who have championed an identical vision, the LGBTQ teen advocate organization Pride for Youth (PFY) will be throwing a special bash on Friday, Nov. 15.

Marking two decades in operation, PFY will celebrate its 20-year anniversary at The Crescent Beach Club in Bayville with an evening of drinks, dinner and dancing. Established in 1993 by the Long Island Crisis Center, Pride for Youth is a not-for-profit, 501c(3) organization that offers educational, supportive and developmental services to LGBTQ adolescents (ages 13-20).

Everything kicks off at 6:30 p.m., and will feature an open bar and cocktail hour (for those of legal drinking age) -- but the evening’s main event is to be an awards ceremony that will recognize some notable individuals who have worked to engender respect and equal opportunity for LGBTQ people in all communities. Those to be honored include Long Island Crisis Center Board president emeritus Hernan Poza, Long Island Transgender Advocacy Coalition executive director Juli Grey-Owens, Target Cue LLC senior vice president Cathy Renna, the law firm of Vishnick McGovern Milizio LLP and the Long Island Community Fellowship Church.

Tickets are available in advance for $100 at pfy20th.karma411.com. For more information, visit longislandcrisiscenter.org/pfy.
