Life on Long Island
More Maxwell's than last year
Maxwell’s American Bar & Grille in Islip has always been a busy stop for nightlife, as well as for drinks and meals — and if you’re a fan, but one who may not have recently paid the pub a visit, as of the spring there is even more of Maxwell’s to enjoy.
Formerly set up with a single long tap counter and a dining area, the bar is now two-sided and able to handle double the amount of ale-minded clientele (Maxwell’s added 1500-square feet, extra seating and a fireplace to its space). Furthermore, beer lovers can find a number of craft choices on the menu — including selections from local brewers (Blue Point Brewing Co., Greenport Brewing Co., Long Ireland) and the crisp “Angry Orchard” brand apple cider.
There are always regular bashes involving live music and DJs, but Sundays remain a focused day for late-night fun, with the weekly “Lifeguard Night” kicking off at 9 p.m. — an evening that includes drink specials and beach-inspired giveaways (past parties have included such prizes as beach chairs, umbrellas and surfboards).
