As the month of May rolls in (and the temperatures finally seem snow-proof) those among us on constant party-watch are now waiting for the hot LI summer spots to get going for 2014, and one has recently stated via social media and its website  that it’s going to go the extra mile come Memorial Day Weekend with a double-day celebration.

Located across the Great South Bay in Ocean Bay Park, Flynn’s Fire Island will host an official opening on May 16 – but will be saving the pomp for the following week, when there will be back-to-back bashes – the first an all-day dance doing (from 1 to 9 p.m.) with Hex Hector and Jason Ojeda.

Both gents are well-known DJs -- with Hex being both a Grammy winner (2001; “Best Remixer”) and a marquee club mixer, while Ojeda is a star selector in his own right, as he’s been spinning for close to 30 years, with some of NYC’s biggest nightclubs among his regular stops.

The two will combine for an eight-hour session of classic dance music, which is to be further enhanced by the presence of nightlife personality Anthony Lamont -- an MC, vocalist and performance artist with heavy Manhattan-scene credibility. (VIP tables will be available for this event; call 516-398-8777 to make arrangements.)

On Sunday, May 25, the event will be a bit tamer, but should still be dance-worthy as Epic (a long-running Flynn’s resident DJ) will be on-hand to spin – and will share the day with soca music legend King Wellington, which frequently plays at Flynn’s. Doors open at noon  with drink specials running from 1  to 5 p.m.
