'Foster a Legacy' in East Hampton
Of all the many celebrity-powered fundraisers taking place this coming weekend in the Hamptons, the “Foster a Legacy” event may be the most star-powered.
Set for Saturday, Aug. 17, it will benefit the Compound Foundation — an organization that works to support and inspire youth that are growing up in group homes or foster care. Taking place at a private estate in East Hampton, the night will feature Grammy Award-winning R&B singer-songwriter Estelle — but at this shindig, the presenters may be considered the biggest draws.
One of the co-hosts will be Shaffer Smith — a co-founder of the Compound Foundation who is also a successful songwriter, singer and dancer who has (at the age of 33) been nominated for 13 Grammy Awards, winning three. If his name doesn't ring a bell, it’s because he’s better known by his stage moniker Ne-Yo.
And while Ne-Yo alone is a qualified attraction, his partner onstage for this happening happens to be Kevin Hart, the comedic actor who stars in "Real Husbands of Hollywood" and whose filmed comedy show (shot at Madison Square Garden) “Let Me Explain” is currently running in theaters. Hart also hosted the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards and was a player and MVP of the 2012 NBA Celebrity All-Star Game.
Tickets start at $1000, with various packages available, including a $25,000 VIP option that seats up to 12 and gets you a Ne-Yo meet-and-greet and an autographed item. Doors open at 6 p.m., cocktail attire is required; for donations, purchase and further information head online to compoundfoundation.org.
