Flanagan’s Pub arrives in Ronkonkoma
Since 2002, Lily Flanagan’s Pub in Babylon Village has been a successful spot for dining and nightlife -- and as of last weekend, the Lily’s ownership group has opened a second location -- with both born in a similar fashion.
When Lily Flanagan’s first arrived in Babylon, it took over a site then better known as the former home of a now-defunct neighborhood nightspot called Barker’s (345 Deer Park Ave.). However, in only a matter of months after its opening, Flanagan’s established itself as a popular draw that -- while offering a menu for lunch and dinner -- was also considered a dedicated party venue, featuring regular DJ nights, live music and occasional special events. Fast-forward to 2013, and Lily Flanagan’s Pub remains a busy late-night stop.
As for the newest Flanagan’s, it also involves the transformation of a space that was once home to a local hangout -- but in Ronkonkoma.
For several years, Bruno's Village Restaurant & Bar was a favorite area spot -- but by the end of this past summer, the location was purchased by the Flanagan’s group, and as of Nov. 2 it has been renovated and reopened as “Flanagan’s Pub” – but not without supplying a final nod to what was, for (as of this writing) there is a banner hanging over the new doorway that includes a blurb stating “Thank You Bruno’s, and Good Luck Herb” (Herb being Herb Bruno, the eponymous previous owner).
Being that Flanagan’s Pub is so new, it’s somewhat early to judge what will be – but indications are that the new venture will be following a blueprint similar to Lily’s in Babylon, which would mean Irish dishes, DJs, live music, big games on the TVs and a friendly atmosphere.
