It’s no secret that Long Island baseball fans don't always see eye to eye, as supporters of the Mets and Yankees can be found arguing about the greatness of the players and legacies pertaining to both Major League Baseball teams at games, in bars and on talk radio shows.

However, both sets of fans tend to have an affinity for former All-Star pitcher Dwight Gooden – who won the 1985 National League Cy Young Award and 1984 Rookie of the Year Award as a Met, pitched a no-hitter for the Yankees and scored World Series rings with both teams. For those who'd like to the man known as Doc in person, he'll be at the Carlyle on the Green in Bethpage State Park on Monday, April 7, as part of the Real Estate Professionals Networking for a Cure event.

Tickets are currently available in advance for $150, and all the money raised goes directly toward the support of research and development in the struggle against breast cancer. (For those concerned about such things, part of the purchase price is tax deductible.)

In addition to Gooden, PinkTie has also announced that it also expects, among others, Gooden's  former teammate (on both teams) Daryl Strawberry; former New York Knicks star and National Basketball Hall of Fame member Walt Frazier; retired football stars from the Jets, Joe Klecko and Greg Buttle, and Giants, Ottis Anderson; actor, and L.I. native, Steve Guttenberg; freestyle singer Lisa (of Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam) Velez, and iconic hip-hop musicians Doug E Fresh and Chubb Rock.

The evening runs from 6 to 11 p.m. Entertainment includes a cigar bar, auctions on sports memorabilia and casino games. For ticket purchase and further information, visit
