‘Decades of Dance’ at Coral House
Think of it as a “dining and disco” sort of doing as Coral House in Baldwin is hosting a bash that will provide both a sizable meal and a thorough dose of classic grooves.
Scheduled for Friday, Feb. 28, it’s being called “Decades of Dance,” and will feature four hours of live music (8 p.m.-midnight) from cover bands Disco Unlimited and Something Fresh, which should make for a solid evening of boogie-worthy beats taken from before the 1990s.
As its moniker implies, Disco Unlimited specializes in the sort of music made famous by the parties held at the iconic Manhattan club Studio 54 and the soundtrack of the film, “Saturday Night Fever” — but they don't just play the tracks, as they take the stage dressed in animal prints, sparkling short dresses and other gear that matches their set list in motif. On the other hand, while Something Fresh doesn't go heavily into themed apparel, it is as dedicated to the 1980s as Disco Unlimited is to the ’70s — and it uses a full band of musicians in its shows, creating a full and funky sound.
Tickets are available for $50 apiece by calling 516-223-6500, with the fee including a three-course dinner. For more information, check out Coral House online at coralhouse.com and facebook.com/coralhousecatering.
