Life on Long Island
A party with big hair and '80s flair at Toro Pazzo
If you've been waiting for a chance to break out your best '80s club clothes, there’s a plum party coming soon that should be a match for your classic duds.
Anyone who remembers local nightlife in the 1980s can tell you the decade was a club-crazy time on Long Island -- when it was the norm to head out into the evening wearing trendy attire and to be supremely well-coiffed -- unlike today’s simpler “casual-but-neat” approach to social style.
However, on Sunday, May 18, Toro Pazzo in Wantagh (753 Wantagh Ave., 516-731-8700) will be holding a “Freestyle & Old School Extravaganza” -- and for this get-together, guests are asked to arrive decked out in flashy 80s panache, with a prize of a Toro Pazzo dinner gift certificate going to the guest deemed best-dressed.
Music will be delivered by DJ Harry Houdini (of Run On Entertainment), and attendees can dance (the tables will be cleared from the dining area), enjoy an open bar and nosh on a selection of Italian-styled edibles, all as part of a private affair – which means admission must be paid beforehand to attend (no walk-ins).
Tickets are limited and available in advance for $65 per person (cash or check) at Toro Pazzo, Lush Hair (3327 Park Ave., Wantagh, 516-809-9977) and Be Fabulous (2578 Merrick Rd., Bellmore, 516-860-7453) for this bash co-hosted by the Be Fabulous Foundation, Inc., a nonprofit fitness and wellness company.
