With virtually every restaurant, bar, club and lounge putting together something extra to entice those looking to party come New Year’s Eve, the decision on where to eventually pick can be a tricky one. For some, the idea of catching a live performance from one of their favorite artists is an attraction, and often there are gatherings where a popular act stars as the main event — however, over at Sugar in Carle Place, the last night of 2012 will feature two.

Anytime the trio known as TKA makes an Island appearance, crowds tend to follow. Led by Louis "Kayel" Sharpe (the “K” in TKA), the three put on an energetic show, often first kicking off their sets with some of the group’s freestyle hits (such as “Maria” and “Louder Than Love”) – then moving into tracks taken from Sharpe’s other well-known band K7 and The Swing Kids (including “Move It Like This” and “Come Baby Come”) – all before closing with more TKA jams. Louis and his cohorts are set to be onstage at midnight to directly help usher in 2013, but once they depart the show’s not over, as Kim Sozzi is scheduled to follow.

Sozzi, a Dix Hills native, is also a big draw for the Island’s club crowd, with a catalog that extends past local notoriety, as some of her hits (like "Feel Your Love," "How Did You Know" and "Feelin' Me") have found success on the music charts while also becoming dance classics. With both Kim and TKA playing the same stage, it’s easy to assume that this bash is likely to see some serious attendance.

Tickets are available in advance at wantickets.com (or at Sugar during business hours or club nights) for $50, a fee that also includes an open bar from 8 p.m.-12 a.m., party favors, DJ Neil C spinning eclectic beats all night and a continental breakfast to be served sometime in the early hours on Jan. 1, 2013. Doors open at 8 p.m.; dress to impress, with the age of admission 21 and older. For more information, head online to facebook.com/SugarNights.
